Kinder to Prep Transition
Prep children will be asked to attend for full school days on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (dismissed at 3:15pm). Children will not be required to attend school on Wednesdays.
The Kindergarten to Prep transition program has three basic aims:
- To provide information about Lakes Entrance Primary School to enable parents to make an informed decision when enrolling their child.
- To provide each child with experiences of the school environment, so that he/she feels "at home" when they begin their Prep year.
- Developing relationships between home/school and kindergarten so that we can meet individual needs.

Other important events happening in Term 1
- Prep Screening – Speech Pathologists conduct speech screenings to determine each child's speech and literacy needs.
- Information Meeting – about Prep programs and helping in the classroom
- Prep Teacher and Kinder Teachers Meet – to share knowledge in regard to the children
- Kinder Teacher Visit to School – a chance to share lunch and for the children to "show off" how much they have grown.
Grade Six to Secondary School Transition
During the grade six year, parents decide which Secondary school best suits their child. Students from Lakes Entrance Primary usually attend either Lakes Entrance Secondary College or Nagle College in Bairnsdale.
The Transition Program begins early in the year with the aim of providing both parents and students with knowledge so that they can make an "informed" decision concerning the secondary years ahead.
In Term 4 the secondary colleges organise days and meet with the grade 6 teachers to discuss student needs.
School Transfers
If your child is to transfer to another school, please advise the school in time for the preparation of Student Records. Student files will remain at the school until requested by your child's new school.
